How to study for Medical Terminology

Learn word parts, not whole words

Most medical words are built from a prefix, a root and a suffix. Master the parts and you can decode terms you have never seen before.

Break every word apart

When a question shows a long term, split it before you answer: 'gastroenteritis' is gastr/o (stomach) + enter (intestine) + -itis (inflammation).

Study in short daily sessions

Ten to fifteen minutes a day beats one long cram. Spaced repetition is exactly what the flashcard and quiz tools here are built for.

Group by body system

Learn terms in families — cardiac, respiratory, digestive — so related roots reinforce each other instead of competing in memory.
